I operate at the centre of the most peculiar Venn diagram.
A tumble of characteristics that, when placed in the right order, create something truly unique and powerful.
I have fire. By god, do I have fire. My blood boils with rage watching women being told they can have it all, but still being expected to do it all. A system that keeps capable, intelligent, powerful women small and filled with doubt. I weep what feels like helpless tears. And I yearn. I yearn for change.
But.
I also see how these systems were built, and what holds them in place.
What it would take to replace them.
And I have unwavering optimism. Hope. Unending belief that we can be a force for change. That we can make the world better. That we have power. If only we stand together and say, “Enough. It is time for a different way.”
And then there is a new part of me.
Something that has evolved with time and experience.
It makes my eyes widen with surprise.
I have softness, empathy, and a deep human compassion. I have (don’t tell anyone) vulnerability and my own deep-seated fears. They allow me to understand the uncertainty that can go hand in hand with wanting more, asking for help, and learning something new.
The next part of me was always there.
It is joy. An unbridled passion for life, laughter, amusement, and connection. We’re here. Our lives are a fluke of nature. So let’s live them in the best bloody way possible. Stress, tragedy, and unfortunate circumstance may want to limit this, but always seeking the brightness in small moments has trained me to find it in the darkest places.
And then there is my intellect. Knowledge and experience weave together like a web, letting everything fall into place. I see the blocks, I always have. Critical thinking allows me to dismantle them. Imagination lets me take these incredible skills, ideologies, and personalities, and create something that serves in a way that makes sense.
And then.
As I’ve been writing, an image has unfolded in my mind’s eye.
It’s not a Venn diagram.
It’s a flower opening. Turning to the sun. Demanding more.
I don’t just teach women about money. I help them reclaim power through it.
And right in the centre – that’s where the power is.
This is where money becomes a tool for freedom, choice, and change.
That’s where DEFINANCE lives.
Come closer.
There’s space for you here.
